Movable kitchen island – A split-level island can allow you to use your island for more than an object of one half of the island up higher than the other. The greater part of the island can be used for entertaining, either as an informal table for guests to sit on or as a bar to hold trays of hors d’oeuvres and beverages. The shorter of the island can be for preparation and may even have a sink. The division of the movable kitchen island separates the two sides but also allows an area to be partially hidden from the guests.
Extra-large cutting board
If your kitchen island will be your preparation go to the food zone, placing an extra-large, heavy cutting board on top of it full time. This surface can be washed and also be replaced when the time comes, and yet, because of its size, it can serve as an extension of the counter. A rubber mat placed under the board can stay in its place more easily, which makes the island seem more attractive.
Wine rack and Drink Station
If you plan to frequently have guests over for drinks, you can devote part of your movable kitchen island design especially for drink service. Wine rack and glass wine storage can be built in as well as lockers to keep spirits. Include an undercounted refrigerator to chill both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and look stylish at the same time. If you have large parties, install a pull-out drawer dishwasher just for your glasses.
